ADR Driver Training
ADR driver training is specialist training equipping drivers with the skill and knowledge to transport hazardous goods by road. All drivers carrying dangerous goods within the scope of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations require a Driver Training Certificate issued by the DVLA.
What is Driver CPC?
The Driver CPC is a scheme for LGV and PSV drivers who drive professionally in the UK. It has been developed to meet the requirements of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PSV drivers throughout their working life. All drivers, new and existing, will then have to undertake 35 hours of training every five years to ensure that their Driver CPC is current. Therefore we advise that 1 module per year is undertaken to keep your driver CPC up to date.
Initial or Periodic Training?
There are 2 types of driver CPC training available: Initial training and periodic training.
Initial training is for new drivers who have recently passed their LGV test. This is a practical test which drivers must pass.
Periodic training is for drivers who passed their test before 2009. During periodic training, you are required to complete classroom based learning but there is no test at the end. Drivers must complete 35 hours training over a rolling 5 year period.
